Alym started making remixes as a teenager and spent years DJing and editing music for fun before co-founding Podium Edits with Hanif Esmail. The idea came from watching his daughter’s coaches edit competition music themselves — work he knew was squeezed in on top of everything else they were already carrying.
He is also the parent of a dancer and a figure skater, so he has seen the other side of it too: the deadline before a competition, the rulebook that changes by season, the routine that needs its music to do the job. That is the perspective behind how the service is built.
