Dance Music Editing

Choreography is built on counts, so an edit that breaks the count breaks the routine. We build dance edits that hold the 8-count through every transition, match tempo and key across multiple songs, and deliver clean-lyric versions that sound produced rather than muted.

For dance teachers, choreographers, studio owners and competitive dancers.

  • From CA$59
  • 2 revisions included
  • 7-business-day turnaround
What we do

Dance edits, built to compete.

Cut to your category time

We edit to the length your division requires and confirm the target before we start, so the routine is never re-choreographed around a re-cut.

Multi-song mixes

Several tracks arranged into one routine, time-aligned and pitch-matched so the joins read as a single arrangement.

Transitions that hold the count

Every join preserves the 8-count, so a formation change lands exactly where the choreography puts it.

Clean-lyric versions

Explicit language removed using an instrumental, a clean release or a rebuilt line, so the vocal keeps its shape instead of dropping out.

Stage-ready mastering

Levels and tone set for ballrooms and convention halls, where long decay and heavy low end blur the transients dancers count against.

Examples

Hear it before you order.

Every sample below plays in place. Where we have the original as well as the finished edit, the player switches between them mid-track. Headphones make the smaller timing and mix decisions easier to hear.

What to listen for

  • The count through transitions Count along at the joins. The 8 should never reset early or run long.
  • Tempo and key matching Songs from different sources should sit together as one arrangement.
  • Clean-lyric handling No holes, no dropouts, no obvious mute where a word used to be.
  • Where the energy peaks The arrangement builds toward the moment the routine is built around.

Why it matters for dance

Dancers count. If an edit adds or drops a beat at a transition, an entire section of choreography lands late — and the dancers know before the audience does.

01

The count is the contract

In most competitive dance styles a transition has to preserve the 8-count. Cutting on a bar line that is not a phrase boundary shifts the count, and the formation change arrives in the wrong place for the rest of the routine.

02

Multi-song mixes need matching, not crossfades

Two songs at different tempos and in different keys do not blend by fading one into the other. We time-align and pitch-match so the transition sounds composed rather than dissolved.

03

Clean edits should sound produced

Muting a word leaves an audible hole and everyone in the room hears it. A proper clean version keeps the line intact so nothing draws attention to the edit.

04

The arc has to match the choreography

The edit should build where the routine builds. Tell us where the peak moment is and we structure the arrangement toward it instead of leaving the energy flat.

05

Competition rooms are loud and boomy

Ballrooms and convention halls have long decay and heavy low end. We master so the transients stay readable, because those transients are what the dancers are counting.

Questions

Dance music editing, answered.

Can you combine multiple songs into one seamless mix?

Yes. Songs at different tempos and in different keys will not blend by crossfading — they have to be time-aligned and pitch-reconciled so they share a tempo and a compatible key through the transition. Done properly, a multi-song routine sounds like one arrangement rather than a playlist.

How do you keep the 8-count through a transition?

By cutting on phrase boundaries rather than on bar lines. A cut placed on a bar line that is not also a phrase boundary shifts the count, so every formation change after it lands in the wrong place. Each join is built so the count continues uninterrupted across it.

Can you remove explicit lyrics from competition music cleanly?

Yes. Muting the word is what makes most clean versions obvious, because it removes part of the melody and breaks the rhythm of the line. We use an official clean release, the instrumental underneath, or a rebuilt phrase so the vocal keeps its shape. Tell us how strict your division is about content.

Can you change the tempo without making vocals sound strange?

Yes, within limits. Modern time-stretching handles small changes with no audible artefacts, and moderate ones with very few. Push far enough and vocals do start to sound processed. If a routine needs a large tempo change, we will tell you before we start whether the track will survive it.
